Privacy policy

Short version: we collect as little as possible, we do not sell data, and calculator inputs never leave your browser.

Calculators and converters

Calculators run in your browser. The numbers you enter, including health details such as height, weight or due dates, are not sent to our server or stored. Conversion pages may include the value you enter in the page address (for example ?val=15) so the result can be shown; this is recorded in normal server logs like any page address.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (IP address, browser type, page requested, date and time) to keep the site secure and working. These logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify you.

Write for us and contact forms

When you send a submission or message, we store the details you enter (such as your name, email address and article) so we can review it and reply. We also store a one-way hash of your IP address to block spam. We do not add you to a mailing list or share your details. Ask us at any time to delete your submission.

Cookies

The site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The Write for us and contact forms set a temporary session cookie, used only to protect the form from spam; it is deleted when you close your browser.

Third-party services

  • Google Fonts: pages load fonts from Google, which receives your IP address when your browser fetches them. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Exchange rates: currency rates are fetched by our server from ExchangeRate-API. No information about you is sent.

If we add analytics or advertising in future, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires it (for example under UK GDPR, EU GDPR or PIPEDA in Canada), ask for your consent.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to complain to a data protection authority such as the ICO (UK) or the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (Netherlands). To make a request, use our contact page.

Children

The site is suitable for students, but we do not knowingly collect personal data from children through our forms.
