Parametric Function

In this post we discuss about Parametric Function.Occasionally, a curve’s path is traced by defining both its horizontal (x) and vertical (y) positions as dependent on a shared intermediary variable, commonly denoted as ‘t’ or ‘θ’. This intermediary is known as a parameter. The equations of the type x=f(t) and y=g(t) are called the parametric equations of the curve. Functions defined in the following manner are designated as parametric.

(1)  x =a t^2                                        (2)     x = a cos t

      y = at                                                   y = a sin t

(3)   x = a cosθ                                  (4)   x = a sec θ

       y = a sin θ                                          y = a tan θ
